Another fun Art Journal Jam!

We had a fun time at the Journal Jam yesterday!

A big thank you to hosts (Good Day Sunshine Cafe owners) Chris and Jessie!  Thanks for putting up with us commandeering your lovely cafe Smile. We had fun!

Here’s the group that came out to enjoy the fun!  Shannon, Nicci, Satira, Joanne, Gail, me, Abigail, Debbie and Susi.

Everyone was fascinated by Joanne’s richly textured Journal books – this one had multiple layers and lots of yummy colours, shimmer and shine!

The youngest member of our group Abigail came with her grandmother Debbie. She was probably the most prolific of all of us coming up with 3 1/2 drawings in our 1 1/2 hour stay Smile.  You know how i love to draw faces so much?  Well Abigail’s thing is horses.  She came equipped with several plastic horses which she dumped out of her bag and quickly went to work.

Her grandmother who is a supply junkie like i am had nothing but the best in the way of art supplies.  Abigail was showing Susi how to use water colour crayons quickly and deftly.  Little kids amaze me when they have no fear and just jump in trying new things. They are great little teachers for us!

Well that’s just a little taste of what we were up to – i hope you enjoyed it – i might make a little video on how to host your own journal jam since a few folks on Facebook expressed an interest!

Love, Violette xo

It must have been wonderful. 🙂

I hope all the adults too not of Abigail’s uncritical approach to her work! Young kids just do it, no blank page panic, or bemoaning something not being perfect . . . they just do it and love what they do!

My 4 year old granddaughter is into dinosaurs so they were what she started with. . . . now, everything gets drawn.

I meant ‘took note of Abigail’s uncritical approach’ . . . it’s early and I should be getting off to work! Too early to have my brain turned on fully!
