I have been slowly trying to pare down what I take when I go on trips. I took one trip a couple of years ago where I did all right, but I was missing things I didn’t pack. Usually I over-pack and don’t use most of what I take! This summer I’m going to be going on a few short jaunts to the coast, and I am hoping to perfect my art supply packing. Wish me luck! 😀

Hi Violette! I’m going to be staying pretty close to home this summer but that doesnt mean I won’t be taking some art supplies out to my favorite hiking spot! Its in a conservation area overlooking the Missouri river. It is so peaceful there.

Thank you so much for the opportunity, I would love the chance to participate!

Hoping to go visit my family in North Carolina with the kids right after they get out of school. I only get to visit home once a year if I’m lucky – hoping nothing gets in the way this year! I always bring markers and paper on trips because the kids get in random creative moods! And I always have to bring my journal to sketch and write in during the trip!

I was supposed to go to a wedding a couple weeks ago, but that fell through (the trip, not the wedding). So I don’t have any vacations planned at all. I actually haven’t been on vacation since a trip to Newfoundland in about 1996, so… But hoping, dreaming…

Hi Violette, how are you doing? What a great give-away! Looks like a really fun workshop with awesome teachers. I’d really like to win a spot.
I might be going to Miami for a little vacation. Really need to do some shopping there. In Suriname where I live there is no art supply store (I know, crazy rigth!) so I order all my stuff online (and then wait weeks for them to arrive). So I would really looooove just a couple of days in the US for some art supply shopping. So in that case I wouldn’t be taking any art supplies with me but rather returning home with lots! 😉

We will be traveling this summer right through December. My hubby is from a very large Irish family, (he is one of 87 grandkids) and they are having a reunion this summer in the Lake George area of NY. There will be about 500 family members. We will also be traveling to Wash, DC, Dallas, Atlanta and Ireland for several Irish dance competitions from July through December. I always always bring Art supplies with me, I never leave home without supplies of some kind, whether the doctors office, or while my daughter is at dance class. I always struggle with how to organize my supplies and what I should bring, especially if I have to fly. I end up always taking way too much. I’m afraid to leave stuff behind in case I might need it. I will end up using 5% of what I bring or become overwhelmed with having too many supplies and end up not creating or finishing my projects. I’m truly a mess when it comes to knowing how to pack my supplies for traveling. I lack organization skills. I’d love to be able to take this class to learn some much needed skills. Not to mention learning to draw some of your awesope characters. Thanks for doing this give away. ((((HUGS)))) Kimmie

Last time we were together, a year and a half ago, it was for our Father’s funeral. Even then, I managed to entice them into making Christmas ornaments. This year besides a couple of journals, I’ll be bringing supplies to do some Zentangle with the family, and some Peerless watercolors and ink for my “downtime”.

We never go on holidays, why should we. We live in this most gorgeous little spot in the Netherlands. Just 5 minutes by bike and I am out of town and I have hours of gorgeous nature to choose from. I love to cycle but not taking too much weight with me, even they say Nederland is flat…it isn’t. And it would be just perfect to be able to take all you need, with you in just one little bag. Now I have my paints, paper and pencils…and it is always too much and too heavy. Winning a spot in this class would be just great…and first time I ever win something.

I would love this opportunity. Plus my husband would be extremely grateful as every vacation he patiently comments on how many art supplies that I pack, a few comments of “will you really use them all (no, but I can’t take the chance of not having it), when will, you find the time (I will)”, and then quietly packs them into the car or stuffs a few more items into his bag for me. We both could benefit from this course 🙂

No pick trip, but will take some smaller ones. Did e-mail journal and poetry on last trip. Must be able fit liquids in to plastic bag.

Any time I see your name in a workshop or a post, I have to check it out. I love your spirit and creativity. I don’t have any travel plans for the summer, but I always take art supplies with me for a day trip. Many times, I don’t get to use them, although I do take lots of photos to record what I have been doing. Thank you for this opportunity!

Yes! My daughter’s wedding is in Colorado and I’ll be there for 6 days. I will be taking my art journal and a few supplies. I live 2 blocks from the beach in Chicago and I regularly journal as I my dog and I soak up the beauty of the Lake.

I would love to win a spot in the class – Thanks!

Hi Violette, I adore your quirky faces. Enjoy the classes. I’m not going away sadly but hope to go out for days. I am lucky to live in the north of England and have lots of pretty hillsides to climb! I always take my journal, watercolours and a water brush along with my trusty pens!! I just started a new job and money is tight (I sure could use a win for these classes) so I will not be vacationing this year. My goal is to set up my own little art studio in my new apartment and have my very own ‘play’ space at home! Good luck all!

I have prepared a travel canvas bag to take with me, not to go on a vacation as such, but in the event I need to go into the hospital or rehab. I have pockets for my necessary items and re-sewed the handles so it would fit over the bed rails and not slide down when the bed (and therefore the rails) are raised, thus keeping everything within reach. This will allow me time to document my time there while releasing the stress of it through art and journaling. I know the time is approaching when this will is likely to be needed so I have prepared. An opportunity you are presenting would be a real inspiration. Thanks for the chance.

I checked back, and my comment isn’t there for some reason (I enjoyed looking through everyone’s plans while I was looking for it, tho’!) I would still love to be included, because I love the idea of the under-fifteen minute videos and supplies that fit in a make up bag! (I have a church mission trip and a vacation to the beach with my mom and sister…yay!)

Having a staycation in the UK but we’ll be out and about geocaching which will make it feel like we’ve gone away on holiday at times. There’s always new places to explore and journal about.

I’m not “planning” to go too far from home this summer, but have decided to say “YES” to whatever adventure comes my way! It has been a couple of years since I’ve been available & able to say “YES”, and I am embracing it!
Water soluble crayons? Hmmmm…I don’t have any of those…… YES!

I’m not taking any vacations this summer. I’m recovering from open heart surgery and getting stronger on a daily basis. Since I’m retired, I can now spend time healing, building up my endurance, work at getting off oxygen, and pulling out my copy of your book, JOURNAL BLISS, which I’ve had for a few years. Today, this very morning, as I opened the book, it spoke to me in such a way that I have been excited to do art journaling and drawing and doodling. I’m visiting your blog and YouTube video(s) and would LOVE to win a spot in the summer art journal workshop. If not, I just may have to register. I’ll wait and see what happens when you draw a name on June 5.

Thank you for the chance to win and for sharing your artwork. BTW, I love, absolutely love, your wonderfully colorful home and yard!!!

My husband and I will stay home to be hosts to our two youngest granddaughters. They will come on separate weeks to “Camp Grandmommy and Granddaddy.” We spend most of the time experimenting with mixed media materials, trying techniques we find in books and on YouTube. There are no rules and no wrong way to play with the materials. The outdoors becomes our “studio” when we want to try techniques that will make a mess. We clean up the studio and ourselves with cool water from the garden hose. These are my favorite days of summer.

I have two holiday plans this summer – a family reunion in the Okanagan, and my own creative retreat. For my Creative Retreat I will actually stay at home, unplug, and spend lots of time in nature. I will be bringing lots of art supplies! Paints, pastels, my looper for singing with, and lots of paper and my favourite writing pens.
