Yay! We have a winner – sorry it took so long to draw a winner – my website was down for a few hours!

I’ll be gone to the Oregon Coast for just over a week – should be back Monday May 27th. Mr. G is going on a Kayak building course which would be akin to me going on an art retreat! Fun! I’ll be walking the beaches and checking out the lovely art and shops in Canon Beach. I won’t be too far from one of my favourite artists Alisa Burke who lives in the lovely town of Seaside.
I may post some pictures on facebook or possibly even here!

I hope that all of the lovely Mom’s out there had a wonderful Mother’s day? We had a nice gathering here – it rained so we put up a tent in the backyard but ended up being inside most of the time. My Mom was sick and unable to attend but through the wonders of technology we were able to “Facetime” with her on my daughter-in-law’s i-pad! My Mom was able to see her great grandkids which made her happy!
Hooray! It’s time again for another giveaway at Casa Violette! Rather than keep giving away my book Journal Bliss I thought it would be nice to give away another artist’s book. This time i bought Mary Beth Shaw’s wonderful book called Flavor for Mixed Media. I thought you would enjoy this book using a metaphor of recipes and cooking to describe mixed media art. Mary Beth uses rich layers and textures to create clever concoctions. She even utilizes “icing” in some of her creations. How fun is that?
So in this giveaway you’ll find Mary Beth’s book, one of my prints of your choice and 6 of my “Be who you are” postcards!
I will be drawing a name on Friday May 17 rather than on Monday as Mr. G and i are going away so he can build a kayak (he’s taking a workshop) on the Oregon Coast. Since Earth day is coming soon – April 22, I thought it would be appropriate to do an “earthy kind of craft” with my 3 year old grandson Sam.
I’m seeing him today so decided this might be a fun thing to do on a rainy day. Guess who’s eating omelette tonight? 
The little troll has absolutely nothing to do with the craft however he wanted to be in on the photo op! You use egg shells as a tiny pot to plant a seed like this – the cool thing is they are bio-degradable so you can plant the entire eggshell planter outside in the garden once the seed has germinated nicely. How wonderful is that?
All you do is scoop some potting soil into the shell and then plant a large seed, water it and watch it grow!
I believe in the original craft you use the entire egg and blow out the insides after creating a pinhole however as you can see i did it my way .

Can you believe it? It’s been 4 years since my book Journal Bliss was published! Wow………how time flies!
In honour of this occasion I thought i would have another giveaway. This time I’ll be giving one prize of my book Journal Bliss, a mixed media painting called “The Fragrance of a Rose” and a little orange freak (elephant). He’s flying his own miniature freak flag as a reminder to us all to fly our freak flag loud and proud!

Thank you so very very much to all of you who entered my February Contest. It’s very difficult for me to pick a few names and NOT give all of you a prize but alas i certainly could not afford that! I use a Random Number generator to pick numbers so that the choosing is fair and square!

Happy Friday my friends! I don’t know what i was thinking. I am giving away 2 prizes for my February contest however that doesn’t sit right with me – it feels like it should be either one or three prizes so I’m adding another prize into the mix!
On Monday I’ll be giving away these two little Talking Heads – “Quirky” and “Bliss – Tranquility”……..they would be so sweet standing on a bookshelf nestled next to your favourite books or simply displayed on a mantle quietly holding the energy of quirky, bliss and tranquility 
.
As you can see i have indulged my love of glitter by dousing these little beauties with opalescent glitter! Sweet! These little talking heads are 2” x 4”x 1/2”, mixed media on wood. The hat adds extra height to Quirky. Originally I called the talking heads without hats “Men without hats” just for fun!
