Just wanted to let you know that i have a busy day today so I’ll be blogging tomorrow instead of today.
See you later alligator!
I trust you all had a wonderful weekend? Mr. G and i have been busy revamping the laundry room. It was pretty scary looking and was jam packed with stuff including two large cabinets which took up lots of space. This old cabinet below became a black hole which held stuff for 18 years. It was so jam packed with stuff I had forgotten about them.
Here’s the ancient wooden cupboard. Yesterday i put it on the side of the road to see if there would be any takers……so far none. I also have it up on a few FB pages (free and garage sale sites). It’s pretty big and super heavy. I don’t like to see things going to the dump if someone else could use the item. This piece would be great in a studio, garage or basement.
The laundry room’s “BEFORE” was too scary for me to post…..here’s the after. We bought cabinets for the laundry room with cubbies from Target. There’s another unit on the opposite wall. Since this is a pretty old house (75 years old) there are not too many closets or built in storage spaces.
The cubbies are great because you can add a tag like i did here which designates what items live inside of them. In my old cupboards i just jammed everything in. I even have a cubbie dedicated to art supplies so i can pull it out and bring it to the kitchen counter which is where i usually create my art.
We repainted the walls white to make the space look bigger and also retiled the floor so it looks fresh and clean. Tiling the floor is a bit hard on the knees but the end result is well worth it.
I’ve decided that i most likely should ban all horizontal surfaces in the house since i tend to pile things on any flat surface! Ha!
Are you working on decluttering your space too? You’ll feel so much better when you do!

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a chance to look around my new virtual home!
Many years ago – maybe 7 or 8 I had a challenge on my blog called “Long necked ladies” (or something to that effect). So many of my readers were challenged when it came to drawing faces so i decided to create a simple face – like the one above which appeared in my book Journal Bliss I asked people to download the image and then to colour, collage or do whatever they liked to it to make it look like theirs. I was amazed at all of the wonderfully diverse images my readers created! From that point on I believe many of them had the courage to veer off and experiment on their own creating their own signature look!
Here are a couple more long necked ladies that appear in my book.
Now you see a number of art journalers who have come up with stencils you can buy to create your own faces. It’s easy enough to create your own template though of a simple face like my long necked lady and then by using a piece of graphite paper transfer it onto your own journal page. By varying the media you use, the hair you put on you can come up with radically different designs!
In this image i am adding dimension to the face using pencil crayon over top of Twinkling H2O’s. It’s a design from my Journal Bliss workshop. You can make your girl as detailed or as simple as you like. And of course like anything the more you practice the better you’ll get at it.
You can then create a page around your drawing or like i did here cut out the face and glue it to a painted background. The possibilities are endless.
I do hope you’ll experiment with drawing faces!

Hola! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We enjoyed Thanksgiving here in Canada – a long weekend of eating, giving thanks and spending time with family and friends.
Over the long weekend Mr. G and i have been switching WordPress themes so that my website/blog is easier to navigate. I hope we have accomplished that. I’ll be adding to the store page too as I’ll soon be selling my postcards as well as inspiration cards based on the ^60in60 series of cartoons. I know this website is probably not the most creative site around but for now I think it will work out okay. We are still getting some of the kinks out – need to add a “search” button and “newsletter” button etc. I’ll be posting more workshop buttons on the lefthand sidebar as I create them.
How to Art Journal
Check out a video interview that Kiala Givehand has with my friend Susan Miller here as she shares tips, techniques and the joys of art journaling. Kiala has created a website called How to Art Journal. Do check it out for art journaling inspiration!
See you tomorrow.
