I love how the Shasta Daisies are embracing the cottage – doesn’t it look like they are hugging it?
The majestic hollyhocks are almost ready to bloom!
The hollyhock plant suffered a few purple splotches during the painting spree – i did talk to them ahead of time and apologized for the disruption – the ladders had to be placed right on top of them – i think they faired pretty well considering 🙂 . In the old days i would have painted AROUND the flowers and what would have remained woud be a two toned painted house – the fresh paint around the flowers and old paint as a shadow behind them! Silly eh?
Junk Journal Workshop
The workshop went well yesterday – several teen Mom’s took the class – some of the counsellors were coming in the workshop room with the girl’s babies as they were not used to being apart from their Mom’s. Some of the counsellors took the class too and had a blast. All in all it was a pretty lively few hours as we created away in this beautiful setting. And speaking of Hollyhocks – there were tons of them around Camp Alex – i wish i had my camera – they were so lovely – all in bloom with their gorgeous heads nodding back and forth in the gentle breeze. They seemed to greet me with a happy “hello” as i passed by them.
I created this journal page about 9 years ago when i visited Hollyhock – a magnificent retreat facility on Cortes Island. they had a beautiful garden that i loved to sit in while admiring the flowers and vegetables. One day i decided to sketch the hollyhocks which were MASSIVE! It was as if the Hollyhocks were speaking to me and giving me a message.
Why not spend some time in nature – kick off your shoes, walk barefoot and reconnect with Mother Earth? It’s such a healing experience!
